The landscape of Banshu-Kasai.

Cultivated fields are disappearing year by year.

The landscape of Banshu-Kasai, once filled with waves of

golden rice swaying in the wind,

has grown increasingly quiet.

It was in this silence that we turned our eyes back to the soil. Because there was a taste of rice we could never forget—

a taste passed down by those who came before us,

and once shared as something ordinary.

We continue to

protect it.

In this region, the practice of rice cultivation has been deeply rooted since ancient times.

Even today, many people continue to care for the land as part-time farmers,

protecting both the soil and the everyday rhythms of agriculture.

Among them are elders who have walked the path of farming for decades.

When given the opportunity to return, they choose once more the fields they know so well.

The knowledge and experience they have cultivated over time remain a quiet treasure,

sustaining life and harvest here, season after season.

Passing local treasures on to the future.

We believe in keeping the light of agriculture alive— a light that has long been one of this region’s greatest treasures— and carrying it forward into the future. By restoring life to abandoned farmland, we seek to bring back new waves of golden rice to this land. Through this effort, we hope to create opportunities for younger generations to step into agriculture with fresh perspectives and renewed passion.

Creating the future of agriculture, together.

Looking ahead, we seek companions—regardless of age or experience—

who are willing to work this land together

and shape a new vision of FARM as LIFE.

By bringing together the steady skills of seasoned farmers

and the flexible ideas and energy of younger generations,

we learn from one another, inspire one another,

and build the future of agriculture side by side.

This is the kind of intergenerational collaboration we strive to create.

With our partners.

By breathing new life into land that once lay dormant,

and through the cultivation of truly good rice,

we hope to nurture the future of this region together.

Here, the wisdom and experience built over many years

meet the energy and drive of a younger generation.

We warmly welcome those who wish to join us

in shaping a new agricultural landscape for Banshu-Kasai.

A system for sustaining farmland.

One Star is a rice that allows you to experience

a system that keeps farmland alive—starting from the dining table.

One bowl of rice represents approximately 0.1 square meters of farmland.

Everyday eating becomes a force that supports the land.

As a choice for continuity, we adopt smart farming methods

to bring movement back to farmland that human hands can no longer easily reach.

Choosing One Star means taking part

in a system that allows agriculture to continue.

It is the entry point to that cycle.

Since the Muromachi period.

Banshu-Kasai.

This region has been cultivated as rice paddies since the Muromachi period.

As times changed and landscapes evolved, rice cultivation in this place quietly endured.

Clay-rich soil that firmly supports the roots,

reservoir-fed water that retains nutrients,

and steady sunlight unique to open plains.

The fact that this land has never strayed from its role as rice paddies has quietly sustained the quality of the rice.

Alatana Mitsuboshi is rice grown upon the accumulation of these land conditions and the passage of time a rice that embodies both the character of its place and the quality it yields.

Alatana continues to explore the relationship between food and agriculture by engaging deeply with land and time.

The rice cultivation passed down through generations in this country,

and the new technologies required today.

Rather than choosing one over the other, we adopt each by understanding its role.

There are places where the natural strength of the land should be honored,

and others where advanced technology is needed to bring farmland back into motion.

Alatana does not place tradition and technology in opposition.

We choose to use both as a way to ensure that agriculture in Japan continues into the future.
